Distribution in Maxixe Village

Heat and destruction all around us but never without a laugh. Much to the joy and excitement of the village kids our truck got stuck traveling on a dirt road but our distributions continued nevertheless.

We visited a teachers training college where we were welcomed with singing and dancing but in the background the destruction was clearly visible. We delivered bulk food, blankets and mattresses.

The Gift of the Givers team proceeded to a village in Maxixe where villagers had lost everything and must rebuild from scratch. Seeing this was very painful. We distributed food and pots to be used in the temporary plastic shelters they erected.

To the village hospital we donated baby clothes, diapers, shoes, washing powder and bulk food. Further on learners attend school under trees as 2200 classrooms lie in ruins after the cyclone blew away their roofs.

The implementation of temporary structures is one of the major challenges Government is presently facing.
