Kempton Park Fire

Gift of the Givers teams are at the Pomona Road Informal Settlement in Kempton Park having responded to a call from the local disaster management at 2am today to assist with the fire disaster that destroyed two hundred informal dwellings and displaced nine hundred people. Gift of the Givers was received and thanked by Executive Mayor Mzwandile Masina at the disaster site. Gift of the Givers has an MOU with Ekhuruleni Municipality and the National Ministry of Human Settlements that officially endorses the Foundation as the agency recognised by government to receive cash and in-kind contributions from the public to support the victims of disasters.
 

Hot meals, hygiene packs, diapers, sanitary pads, blankets, fruit and bottled water will be distributed immediately. Items required when building recommences include roof sheeting, wooden poles, food parcels, new clothing, mattresses and eating utensils.
