Gift of the Givers continues its intervention in Malawi to support the victims of the Flood Disaster targeting 1100 families in 7 out of 11 districts affected in the Southern Region of the country.
The support includes blankets, plastic sheeting, mosquito nets, kitchen utensils, and food parcels containing maize flour, corn soya blend, sugar, salt, milk, rice, tea, beans, soy chunk relish, laundry and bath soap.
Gift of the Givers has partnered the Malawi Defense Force (MDF), the Malawi Red Cross and the Department of Disaster Management Affairs (DoDMA) to respond to the needs of the affected communities.
Today's operation targeted the elderly, lactating mothers and physically challenged people.
The 7 districts which have been selected from the 11 affected districts include Nsanje, Chikwawa, Zomba, Phalombe, Mangochi, Mashinga and Mulanje.

The country started receiving heavy rains from 5 to 10 March resulting in destructive flash floods especially in the Southern Region. Reports indicate that 56 people have lost their lives and 750 000 have been displaced countrywide.
