On Friday 24th November 2017, Gift of the Givers will hand over a 20-seat lab to the Department of Electrical Engineering at the Mangosuthu University of Technology.
The university was seriously affected by the recent KZN megastorm destroying lecture theatres, admin blocks and residences. Three computer labs housing 100 computers were badly damaged being submerged in one metre of water. Whilst providing food hampers to 200 needy students in response to the storm it was decided to intervene in the computer lab. Research, assignments, studies and preparations for exams were going to be catastrophic; no student should be disadvantaged in such circumstances as failure would be heart breaking for many who just cannot afford varsity fees.
The University management were very grateful for Gift of the Givers immediate contribution of 20 computers. In acknowledement a room was dedicated as a computer lab for these computers. We are hoping to add more computers in time. For now this was a decisive intervention in preparation for the exams.
Gift of the Giver's Dr Sooliman and Acting Vice-Chancellor Professor Marcus Ramogale will jointly unveil the new lab at the Umlazi campus on Friday 24th November at 10h30.
